Safe School Standard: SS 10000:2025 (ACCAB Standards Publication) is a voluntary, international health and safety standard designed for schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions. Rooted in the ethos of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), it supports institutions in providing safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for all learners (under 18 included), staff, and stakeholders.

The standard is structured into four practical parts: (I) Requirements (mandatory measures for compliance), (II) Code of Practice (implementation guidance across policies, design, access control, equipment, staffing, safety, hygiene, maintenance, and administration), (III) Audit Checklist (a structured assessment tool with a 1–5 scoring model), and (IV) Audit Checklist Guidance (detailed instructions and evidence expectations, including written evidence up to 400 words and supporting documents/media).

SS 10000 is intended to complement—not replace—legal and regulatory obligations, and it emphasizes governance, risk assessment, emergency response planning, and a safety management system with continuous improvement over time.
